About Dr. Jonathan Acosta

Fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon at Arrowhead Orthopaedics, caring for patients across the Inland Empire.

My approach

My job is to figure out what’s actually wrong, walk you through your options, and help you get back to your life with the least invasive intervention that works.

About me

I'm a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon caring for patients throughout Rancho Cucamonga, Chino Hills, Riverside, and Redlands.

I completed my spine surgery fellowship at Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, where I trained in a wide range of spinal conditions, from complex deformity reconstruction to modern minimally invasive techniques. That experience shaped the way I approach spine care today: there is rarely a single solution that is right for every patient, and my goal is to understand your individual condition and offer the treatment options that make the most sense for you.

Before fellowship, I studied Neuroscience at UCLA and earned my medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. I then completed my orthopaedic surgery residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, where I received broad training across all areas of orthopaedics.

I remain actively involved in research, with interests including spinal implants, surgical navigation, disc replacement, and biomechanics, and I serve as a reviewer for leading journals in the field. Staying involved in the academic side of spine surgery helps me keep my practice grounded in current evidence while continuing to evaluate new technologies and techniques thoughtfully.

Teaching is also an important part of my practice. I serve on the faculty at California University of Science and Medicine, and mentoring medical students and future physicians is one of the aspects of medicine I enjoy most.
